Welcome to Savannah, the software forge for people committed to free software:
- We host free projects that run on free operating systems and without any proprietary software dependencies.
- Our service runs with 100% free software, including itself.
- Why choose Savannah?
Savannah.nongnu.org is a central point for development, maintenance and distribution of free software.
If you would like to use Savannah to host your project, then go to the Register new project menu entry.
It's not necessary for using Savannah, but if you would like to make your project part of the GNU system, please see the GNU Software Evaluation web page. New packages are welcome in GNU.
We strongly recommend all Savannah users subscribe to this mailing list:
- savannah-announce: low-volume notifications of important issues and changes at Savannah.
And this mailing list is a place for Savannah users to communicate and ask questions:
- savannah-users: help with using Savannah in general (not a specific project).
Happy hacking!

The IPv4 addresses of the Savannah sites have been changed. All of the sites have been updated to use the new addresses. This may cause ssh warnings about an address change when committing to vcs repositories if your ssh is configured to warn on those changes. If so you will need to manually accept the new address. For a short time, until the old address stops working, both addresses will function to help smooth the migration.

The IPv4 address of the Savannah sites will be changing this weekend. The change in address is expected to be completed before Monday. This should be completely transparent to end users. No significant downtime is expected.

The Savannah VCS version control server will be offline on Wednesday, May 14th after 14:30 EDT (2014-05-14 18:30:00 UTC) for file system maintenance. The hosted storage space is being moved to faster backend storage to improve performance. Version control for all projects will be unavailable for possibly as long as three hours until the move is completed.
